D.A.R.E.
D.A.R.E is an innovative program built upon a partnership between the Jeffersontown Police Department, and local schools. Each year the D.A.R.E. cirriculum is taught to hundreds of students at area schools. The participating elementary schools are Cochrane, Jeffersontown, Tully, and St. Edward as well as Carrithers Middle School
Officer Steve
Our DARE program is taught be Community Resource Officer Steve Fisher. With over 900 students taught each year, Officer Fisher was named the 2024 Ky State D.A.R.E Officer of the Year
The D.A.R.E. curriculum identifies fundamental basic skills needed for healthy development, including;
Self-awareness and management
Responsible decision making, and making healthy choices
Understanding others
Relationship and communication skills
Handling responsibilities and challenges
The curriculum is based upon the core concepts of responsibility, decision making, drug information, risks and consequences, peer pressure, stress, confident communication , nonverbal communication, listening, bullying, helping others, and getting help.
